The State Government has 1420 approved Fair Price Shops including Co-operative Societies, Women Self Help Groups through which the foodgrains under T.P.D.S are distributed. The district wise break up of Fair Price Shops are as under

Who can open a Fair Price Shop?

  1. A Cooperative Society    
  2. An unemployed educated individual    
  3. Ex-serviceman    
  4. Handicapped person    
  5. Gram Panchayat    
  5. Women Self help Group

District Civil Supplies Officer, Food , Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department of the District where the FPS is proposed to be opened.

       
 

Where can the FPS be opened?

 

Any place, urban or rural, in State, where minimum 50  numbers of Ration Card holders live. The distance from nearest Godown and next Fair Price Shop is also taken into consideration while granting Fair Price Shop license.Road connectivity for carriage of ECS is also considered.

       
 

Procedure to be followed:

 

Any person/individual who possesses a grocery license from UD & HD may apply with  an application on a prescribed form to the District Civil Supplies Officer, Food & Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department of the district where the FPS is proposed to be opened.

       
 

Attach a copy of recommendation by the Area MLA or  the  Panchayat of the area ,  recommending the opening of the FPS at the designated place.

       
 

Attach copy of Sikkim subject/Certificate of Identification/Voters Identity Card.

       
 

After the applicant is issued FPS license he/she shall deposit the security amount and License fee in the office of the District Civil Supplies Officer of the concerned District.
